Why do we do the things we do Why do we think the thoughts we think Why do we say the words we say Why do we act this way Why do we do the things we do Why do we pray to the gods who we pray to Why do we make the deals we make Why do we take the things we take Why do we do the things we do Why do we cling to the things that we cling to Why do we do the things we do Why do we pray to the gods who we pray to Why do we pray to the gods who we pray to Why do we negotiate the deals we do Why do we subjugate the truth Why do we sin the way we sin Why do we act the part we’re in Why do the wars we fight begin Why do we do the things we do Why do we pray to the gods who we pray to Your sweet perfume still fills the rooms of my mind I think I see a HoJo’s up ahead, might wanna stop, check in, take a shower, sleep in a real bed Your skin keeps changing different shades of red There’s a Micky D’s across the street I’m a go out and grab a bite to eat Holding court with cretins Just my guess, but I think it’s official, we’re all crazy But the crowd appears thrilled Why do we do the things we do Why do we pray to the gods who we pray to Why do we do the things we do Why do we pray to the gods who we pray to Do unto others as you would have them do unto you (Christianity) Treat others as you would yourself be treated (Hinduism) Do unto all men as you would wish to have done unto you (Islam) What you yourself hate, do to no man (Judaism) Hurt not others with that which pains yourself (Buddhism) Live in harmony, for we are all related (Native American) Do as you will, long as you harm no one (Sacred Earth) Come bearing gifts of common sense, miracles and wonder To believe takes a certain kind of weakness Blindness is the first thing to set in without sustenance Good friends can become the same as a vague acquaintance Kindness is usually rare on a sinking ship And there is no difference between the devil and an angel on an ego trip In the umbrella of the nightfall, beautiful things fall apart Some things you don’t know the price of until it’s fully paid for The magician doesn’t trick you The magician helps you trick yourself Some things you don’t know the price of until it’s fully paid for In the umbrella of the nightfall, beautiful things fall apart

Are you thirsty for the truth? Then take a sip said the man Comin’ from the man in front of the man behind the man in front of the man behind the man in charge of the truth When nothin’ that was ever believed in is true Where am I supposed to stand when I don’t have a clue The view is always better from the high road Comin’ from the man in front of the man behind the man in front of the man in charge of the truth He said, well when you love what you’re doin’, it’s not hard to do it Some roads are made with dirt and stone, but even roads paved with tar, lose the war, to water It’s not hard to realize Pandemics can be useful, in certain applications, particularly when persuading sensibly challenged persons

There’s a revolution It’s marching up your street There’s a revolution It’s swirlin’ around your feet There’s a revolution It’s knockin’ at your door There’s revolution Crawlin’ across the floor There’s a bloody revolution There’s a revolution from the miniscule margins of the mucky mundane to the max of the mainstream Fighting a proxy war in a foreign land, picking up momentum, and gathering steam New-born babies can tell you who you are and fetuses dream, what do ya know, hey, whoa! Some things are never are the way they ever seem, it’s a common theme, yo! Don’t for a minute mistake speaking without thought for actually speaking the truth, ya big galoot It’s the secrets that you think won’t kill you are the ones that always do, it’s true Follow doctor’s orders, eat fruits and veggies every day, drink wine and whiskey too For a rainbow of reasons, I do whatever I feel like, mostly absolutely nothing, and nothing new In the kangaroo court of public opinion, sorry to disappoint, I make real music… You couldn’t possibly be cognizant to Don’t hang onto the past, the past is gone, but who’s counting, the past is gone long ago, the past is gone, let’s go In the spirit of having fun, don’t do yourself any favors and go out of your way to go against the flow (Refrain) No one ever plans on dying when they step outside the door each day to put up with more The icy winds of war are blowin’ in the hinterlands and from one shore to the other shore like it’s never been before It’s persuasive, invasive, pretty pervasive, oh by the way, your house is on fire You better pick a god to pray to and pray, pull the plug, kick the tires, and cross all the wires. Take in your recommended daily allowance of weapons-grade mediocrity with a cup of store bought tea And watch the rock salt shot gun talk show hosts with a liquid crystal display of honesty, geez! Matter is everything and everything matters, nothing to see here, move along please It’s just a small black hole, just a minor black hole, we’ve got it under control (trust us), see? As time passes we all become who we always should have been, and when we realize it, it’s like a hit to the chin To see what’s right in front of you is a constant struggle Can’t really call it a war because wars eventually end (Refrain) I’m a 20th century exile holding court with cretins and kings and wing dings I’m a clinically dysfunctional calcitrant, but I know a few things I’m a good person, but I’m not that good I’m unflappable, I cannot be flapped Cuz you never know when it’s peace out, bro I know exactly where I am but I don’t know where I’m at Leaving me on the business end of a 2-barrell shotgun of regrets In the aftermath of a simple beginning, I’m today-years-old, and taking bets I’m not going anywhere, just staring into space, and trying to get to a better place I never focus on how I should feel, I only focus on what I do feel, if indeed I can even focus staring into space It’s like this, when you love what you do, it’s not hard to do it All you have to know is when to play the ace (Refrain) There's a revolution

I miss the old days of innocence and wonder I miss the old days in my life Whatever happened to the old days of lightning strikes and thunder I miss the old days in my life Playing games one day when suddenly the sky turned black and grey I looked up to see jet planes against a blue sky I knew things had changed and they would never be the same I miss the old days in my life I miss the old days of innocence and wonder I miss the old days in my life Whatever happened to the old days of lightning strikes and thunder I miss the old days in my life If I took a time machine to 1969 I would bring back love and a cardboard peace sign I would make 6 billion copies, distribute them throughout the lands Maybe then, they would understand I miss the old days of innocence and wonder I miss the old days in my life I miss the old days of lightning strikes and thunder Whatever happened to the old days in my life I miss the old days in my life

Livin’ in a strange world With all these strange girls And all these strange boys And all their strange toys, and I’m I’m takin’ off the shades I’m takin’ off the shades Why you always gotta own me Why you gotta try and clone me Well, go ahead and own me Yeah, go ahead and clone me, cuz I’m I’m takin’ off the shades I’m takin’ off the shades Why you always gotta sell me Something I can’t ever need Somewhere someone cries to tell me Until my ears begin to bleed I’m takin’ off the shades I’m takin’ off the shades

I met a 20th century exile He said he had a few things on his mind I said stay a while, set a spell, I got time He told me tales of wisdom and wonder He said you wouldn’t understand, you’re just a child I replied, try me my friend, I know exactly what you’re talkin’ about I’m not a child I’m a 20th century exile I can tell you what I was doin’ when I heard that John Kennedy had died at 3:00 in the afternoon I saw The Beatles live on the Ed Sullivan show, and my sisters sighed and they swooned I was up at 2:00 a.m. in the morning to watch Neil Armstrong when he stepped on the moon I was watching Monday Night Football when Howard Cosell announced John Lennon had been shot dead by some deranged goon I’ve never listened to a Taylor Swift song and I’m not plannin’ on listenin’ to one anytime soon Of all the idiots in the idiot world universe of idiots, Swifties stand alone. You really call that a tune? Hospital called, you have stage 4 dumbass, they won’t take you even as an extra anyways in a badly drawn cartoon I’m a 20th century exile I’ve been watching Gilligan’s Island reruns lately just to pass the time away in a day dream That show was really good but sometimes it wasn’t always the way that it could seem You know, you never know when you’re a 20th century exile what the next thing is that you’re going to…..you’re going to glean Cuz’, what we got here is a multidimensional train wreck, with a broken neck, playing on a losing team Some people take the fringe element out of lunacy and going to out of the going to the extreme I’m a 20th century exile

Poor Pluto 03:30
Poor Pluto Just half the size of the U.S.A. Doesn’t even have a Wikipedia page That shows up before Pluto TV Go ahead and google it, you’ll see Merely known as a trans-Neptunian object Classified as a dwarf planet, last I checked Bah! That’s balona! It has a a heart-shaped glacier the size of Texas and Oklahoma Pluto, I miss you so You were my favorite planet Where did you go? Oh Pluto, where did you go? Romulus & Remus used to fight each other like Popeye & Bluto Charon is in a binary system with Pluto So maybe they should be planets 9 & 10 At least let’s make Pluto a planet again After all Charon is the one with theolin organic macromolecules Which may be the ingredients for the emergence of life, according to Wikinews Like Caesar said to Bruto Et tu, Pluto? Pluto, I miss you so You were my favorite planet Where did you go? Oh Pluto, where did you go? Pluto, you're just a warm fuzzy little ball of ice and rock Light itself, takes four and a half hours to travel from Pluto to Earth It appears as if ice crystals form the same way on Pluto as they do on Earth When I was standing on Pluto at 380 degrees below zero It was like I lost my heart and there was no place for the blood to flow But your heart shaped glacier, vacillating between cellular and non-cellular nitrogen Transcends all of humanity, and sends a message of peace on Earth Hey, does anybody know what time it is? My lucky astrology mood watch has stopped Roger

Look at you, on the dance floor tonight Every move you make is clean outta sight With just a little touch of savoir faire Like Ginger Rogers and Fred Astaire I’m a bein’ with a bombshell No buntah she fo sho And I ain’t no Charlie neither Cuz I’m her daddy-o (refrain) She’s fading in and out like the Cheshire Cat, meow Steel-eyed stare with a tip of her hat Listen up hepcats, killer-diller, kopesetic, let me tell you where it’s at Where’d ju learn to dance like that? She be cuttin’ a rug While the fat cats with their dough They can’t buy her love Cuz like I said, I’m her daddy-o Zoot suit, hep cats, not bent, Cadillac Bust loose with the cats and the chicks Creeps out like a shadow No jivin’ with an ickeroo, NO! (refrain) Frisk those whiskers, and lick those chops The Gabriels are sounding good tonight Hit some Armstrongs, play it hot The joint is jumpin’, it’s a jammin’ spot But no one stops to lookin’ at her She’s dinner, she’s a barrelhouse She’s a mess, she’s a blip, she’s ready Reap this righteous riff (refrain)

In mountain streams, pure water gleams, children’s dreams fulfilled I love my Green Mountain State Unity, diversity, equality for all I love my Green Mountain State Oh, freshly fallen snow like a veil Winter, spring, and fall, 4 seasons hail The beauty of a sunset, at the lake on a summer day I love my Green Mountain State

All my ships have been burned and destroyed To save my soul, I had to swim to shore The natives tried to run me down, ran me out of town And I don’t think they even knew what for All my dreams have yet to come true Always leavin’ me with nothin’ to do Better times, and better rhymes Is all I ever wanna do Some day Some day, baby Some day, ooh…. I bin double-crossed, bin deceived, yeah And I don’t even know just how And when I look around me, no one here has found me Why I didn’t know by now There are lessons to be learned From all the bridges I have burned Nothin’ lost, but man, what a cost I keep payin’ all I’ve earned Some day Some day, baby Some day, ooh…. How many times will I turn around to find nobody standin’ there In the darkness when I’m sleepin’ I can see the future And it makes me get up and turn on the light People talkin’ bout me, got no cause to doubt me Still I just don’t think it’s right I’ll be so proud one of these days To see a smile on your face Shinin’ on me, for all to see To see your wisdom and your grace Some day Some day, baby Some day, ooh…. Some day, yeah Some day, baby Some day, ooh…. I’m a legend in my own mind Just waitin' for the right time I’m a legend in my own mind Just waitin' for the right time I’m a legend in my own mind Just waiting for the right time Just waitin' for the right time Just waitin' for the right time Just waiting for the right time Just waitin' for the right time Na na na na na na na na

about

Like the old Police song, yes, I was "born in the fifties". Did my growing up in the late 20th Century. Everyone looks back at their lives and reminisces. I like to take it a step further. I'm a 20th Century Exile. There are plenty of us out there. We're labeled Baby Boomers by the folks who detest labeling people. We grew up during the Viet Nam War believing in peace and love. We listened to some of the greatest music of all times. We grew up believing Pluto was a planet. The future was so bright, we had to wear shades. You get it. Please take a listen to this CD filled with wonderful tunes about this and that.
