Cruzin' Round The City
04:43
|
|||
Cruisin’ round the city
Cruisin’ round the city
We can ride the freeway in
Just takin’ the car out for a spin
Put the top down, cruise all around the town
Get down, just drivin’ round and round and round and round
Cruisin’ round the city
Cruisin’ round the city
Cruisin’ round the city
Cruisin’ round the city
Feel the wind blowin’ in our hair
Restaurant row wafting through the air
Cruisin’ down the boulevard
Your dark sunglasses make you look like a movie star (yeah!)
Cruisin’ round the city
Cruisin’ round the city
Cruisin’ round the city
Cruisin’ round the city
Cruisin’ round the city
Cruisin’ round the city
Cruisin’ round the city
Cruisin’ round the city

Hey friend, it's good to see you again
I haven't seen you in since I don't know when
We used to meet up every Friday at ten
In the little bar & grill up around the bend
Hey friend, it's good to see you again
I haven't seen you in since I don't know when
We used to meet up every Friday at ten
In the little bar & grill up around the bend
Before the world went and turned all kinda nutty
We'd discuss the relevance of quantum physics and Silly Putty
Hey friend, it's good to see you today
It's been a while since we all went a way
To hide in our houses where we all had to stay
And now finally, we can all come out to play
And put our money down on the football pool
Just to prove to each other who's the bigger head fool
Hey friend, it's good to see your face
Why don't we go over to my place
And we can play ping pong in the basement space
It's been so long, I really miss those days
How can we be in two places at once when we're not anywhere at all
Except here to have lunch
Hey friend, it's good to see you again
I haven't seen you in since I don't know when
We used to meet up every Friday at ten
In the little bar & grill up around the bend
They had to widen the front door one week
Cuz you won the football pool and your head was too big
Hey friend. it's good to see you again
Hey friend. it's good to see you again
(You picked the Raiders to win?)
Hey friend. it's good to see you again
(You picked them as your away team)
Hey friend. it's good to see you again
(Hospital called)
Hey friend. it's good to see you again
(You have stage 4 dumbass)
Hey friend. it's good to see you again
(Just a hapless Red Sox fan)
Hey friend. it's good to see you again
(I would ligue to go to zee hotel)
Hey friend. it's good to see you again
(Bye you later)
Hey friend. it's good to see you again
(See)
Hey friend. it's good to see you again
Hey friend. it's good to see you again

That Kiss
04:22
|
|||
At first it was the way you look
When you look at me with those eyes
And even after that place took
I was taken by surprise
When you looked at me a second time
I could see it in your eyes
I held you in my arms so tight
It was paradise
I couldn’t believe this was happening
My heart skipped a beat
I felt just like a bowling pin
It knocked me off my feet
That kiss, that kiss, that kiss, that kiss, that kiss
That kiss in the sunshine
That kiss in the rain
That kiss in the subway station
That kiss in the rain
That kiss in the rain
That kiss in the rain
Down below in the street
After dark in the alley ways
On somebody else’s patio
After hours in the morning showers
In all the places no one else ever goes
On the platform at the railway station
In the doorway, in the aisle, and on the seat on the train
Tastes as sweet as red wine baby
Goin’ straight to my brain
I couldn’t believe this was happening
My heart skipped a beat
I felt just like a bowling pin
It knocked me off my feet
That kiss, that kiss, that kiss, that kiss, that kiss
That kiss in the sunshine
That kiss in the rain
That kiss in the moonlight baby
That kiss in the rain
That kiss in the rain
That kiss in the rain
That kiss in the rain
That kiss in the rain
That kiss in the rain
That kiss in the rain

Rollin' Down The River
06:44
|
|||
Rollin' down the river in his '67 Ford
In his life he's a little bored
And he's rollin' down the river to his home
He's an elected official in the township where he lives
To the United Way he gives
And he's rollin' down the river to his home
His wife has shut him off and his love is growin' cold
He wishes he could make it with a 17-year-old
She is young and has her life ahead of her, but smokes
He's middle-aged and comes to see his life is but a joke
Rollin' down the river
Rollin' down the river in her punch buggy no punch-back bug
Lookin' for a man who wears no rug
And she's rollin' down the river to her home
She has work as a steno clerk and her boss is a big fat jerk
Wears a hairdo like a Turk
And she's rollin' down the river to her home
She was born in 1965 and knows no love
Her friends got hitched and some had kids and others got split up
She is locked inside a box of a world that she once knew
Of Barbie toys and a little boy who promised he'd be true
What can you do?
Rollin' down the river
All day long and all night long
The cars and trucks are shifting gears
2-4-7, 3-6-5, 3-6-6, on a leap year
Rollin' down the river through a commercial/industrial zone
He's answered a million telephones
But he still thinks he's got thunder in his bones
Rollin' down the river on the highway to his home
He's just like a rolling stone
He's just like Mr Dylan's Mr Jones
He gets home, his wife is gone, she's taken everything
Alone he stands, he removes his wedding ring
He was always told that hard work had its own rewards
He gets back on the highway with the Chevys and the Fords
And says, "Oh Lord"
Rollin' down the river
All day long and all night long
The cars and trucks are shifting gears
2-4-7, 3-6-5, 3-6-6, on a leap year

I Miss Your Smilin' Face
03:16
|
|||
I heard you didn’t make it
I hope you’re in a better place
I know sometimes it’s hard to fake it
To know for sure and not mistake it
To just stand up and try to face it
Sometimes it’s hard find some space
I heard you fought like hell
I heard you were in good graces
I hear they treated you very well
Still, I would not want to trade places
Don’t want to miss the dinner bell
Riding round the carousel
I hope you’re in a better place
I hope you found your happiness
With fortitude and finesse
I must confess, I do obsess
Your memory I can’t erase
And I miss your smiling face
Some things you just cannot foretell
Living on the 45th parallel
Sometimes it makes me want to yell
And my heart bleeds with emptiness
It cannot bleed any less
And I miss your tenderness
And so yes, I must to acquiesce
A sacrifice, nonetheless
Sometimes I’m lost in loneliness
Sometimes It’s hard just to breathe
Sometimes my words I cannot speak
Ahh, but I digress
I hope you’re in a better place
I hope you found your happiness
With fortitude and finesse
I must confess, I do obsess
Your memory I can’t erase
And I miss your smiling face
And I miss your smiling face
And I miss your smiling face

Protector Of Her Dreams
04:51
|
|||
I’m always there every night, to wake her up from her bad dreams
She has too many bad dreams, every night, because of me
We’ve had so many good times in our lives, so it seems
But something always troubles her, subconsciously, in her dreams
One day I would like to wake up in a world free of misery
Prerequisite to waking up, is to get some sleep, get some sleep
I lay awake all night guarding her from her bad dreams
I’d just like to get some sleep, get some sleep, I need some sleep
She’s planning a dinner party for co-workers and employees
Twenty-five or so, I’m not included
Boys night out for me
It’s one of her good dreams, I just lie awake, listening for bad dreams, so I can intervene
Protecting her from myself
Protecting her from myself
I leave her monetarily to write down all these thoughts I have
I just can’t get comfortable with all these thoughts runnin’ around my head
I don’t wake her if she’s dreaming and she laughs
I just figure it musta been something somebody musta said
She is everything and more, she doesn’t deserve to know me in her dreams
She should be dreaming of the ocean, or flower valleys, or mountain streams
But strung-out, overdrawn bank account, desperation creeping in
So lovely as a flower, the veil so deeply thin
She’s planning a dinner party for relatives and family
Eighteen or nineteen this time, I am included, Mmmmmm
It’s one of her bad dreams, as I lie awake, listening, I intervene, and wake her up
Protecting her from myself
Protecting her from myself

Now We're Goin' Home
05:30
|
|||
You and I, gal we've bin so long
And we've worked hard all our lives with nothing to show
The ones we love, we never see enough
The ones we see, I don't need ther stuff
And I don't need another day just like this one
Now we're goin' home
Now we're goin' home, home, home
Now we're goin' home
It's bin a long day gone
Put the dinner on
And disconnect the phone
Well he told her, ya see, and she told me
But she didn't know how to say what he said, and so
I had nothin' to say
One of these days, I'm gonna speak my mind
And when I get my chance, I'm gonna shine
Now we're goin' home
Now we're goin' home, home, home
Now we're goin' home
It's bin a long day gone
Put the dinner on
And disconnect the phone
Somewhere along the way we got lost in this maze
Somewhere along the way we got caught up in this crazy world
With no rewards, and drivin' beat-up Fords
And never having enough, dear
But I don't care, anymore, I just don't care
(Huh, no no, I care about you, and us...Nohhh!!!)
For those that have and them
Who don't even have a life
Well I got nothin' to live, and nothin' to die for
And when I'm dead and gone
No one will know my name
And I don't even have a clue what I'm here for
Now we're goin' home
Now we're goin' home, home, home
Now we're goin' home
It's bin a long day gone
Put the dinner on
And disconnect the phone
Now we're goin' home
Now we're goin' home, home, home
Now we're goin' home
It's bin a long day gone
Put the dinner on
And disconnect the phone
Now we're goin' home
Now we're goin' home, home, home
Now we're goin' home
It's bin a long day gone
And I'm so tired
I don't wanna hear
No telemarketeer
Talkin' in my ear
I just wanna be left alone
